There are a whole host of social clubs in North Cyprus and it’s likely you’ll find something that appeals to you, whether it be a walking group or dance class – but the good thing is, even if you don’t or you have a particular passion for a specific kind of social activity, you can always set up your own club or social gathering!

Markets
Social Groups, North CyprusWe mention markets as they are a form of social networking, with people often going to meet up with friends and to browse the various goods available. Traditional expat markets have been going for years in North Cyprus, with Pegasos in Karaoğlanoğlu being the longest standing. Nowadays there are others to meet demands in various locations, such as the market at Chateau Lambousa in Lapta, Tolga’s in Karşiyaka as well The Carpenters in Karaoğlanoğlu and others across the coastline - both east and west of Kyrenia.

Entertainment
A wide variety of social entertainment groups are around, and if you like karaoke there’s the chance to sing every single night of the week at different venues around the Kyrenia area; you will often see karaoke events advertised outside venues on a regular basis. There’s the chance to join a more professional singing group too, it’s called Chorus Lambousa and it sing songs from the shows and other light musical numbers, they also arrange regular concerts – don’t worry though, you don’t have to audition to join! Other than this there are badminton and bridge clubs, church groups, amateur dramatics societies, darts clubs, keep fit, slim and stay trim groups, mother and toddler meetings and you can even learn to speak the local Turkish language too with various organisations and private tutors offering classes. Kids are also catered for with a wide range of activities such as dancing, piano lessons, craft clubs and lots more. Job Opportunity in Northern Cyprus

More and more young people and families move to North Cyprus. In practice it is possible to move to Northern Cyprus before either securing a job or a work permit. In terms of the work available - because of the boom in property development in North Cyprus there are specialist jobs available in the construction industry from civil engineers to plumbers and electricians. Vacancies for estate agents often come up as well in TRNC. Furthermore as the number and size of schools in Northern Cyprus grows so the demand for internationally qualified teachers intensifies. There are also vacancies arising in the tourism industry of Northern Cyprus from travel reps to bar and waiting staff for example.

Opening Hours in North Cyprus

In Northern Cyprus, there are different business hours in summer and winter. North Cyprus post offices, banks etc. are open from Monday to Friday (except public holidays) in summer: Monday: 07:30-14:00 and 15:30-18:00
Tuesday-Friday: 07:30-14:00.
In winter: Monday-Friday, 08:00-13:00 and 14:00-17:00.

Passport and visa in TRNC

Northern Cyprus is encouraging a policy of attracting foreigners to come and live and work. The citizens of European Union nations, Turkey, USA, Canada, Mexico, Malta, Japan, Switzerland, Norway, Israel, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Australia and New Zealand do not require visa. For further information about North Cyprus and regarding visa requirements, please contact the nearest North Cyprus Embassy or Representative Office abroad. When you arrive in North Cyprus, you are issued with a 3 month tourist visa. After that you must apply for a residence permit in North Cyprus. Temporary residency permits are issued from the local North Cyprus police station. This is a simple procedure involving the completion of a form and supply four passport sized photographs. This permit is renewed annually. A Full residency permit will not be issued until the person has lived in Northern Cyprus for five years.

North Cyprus Postal System

The outgoing postal system in Northern Cyprus is reliable. Incoming mail must be suffixed "Mersin-10, Turkey" and not "Northern Cyprus". The history of the postal service in Northern Cyprus will definitely be of interest to all philatelists.

Standard U.K. three pin plugs are widely used in all hotels and houses located in Northern Cyprus and the voltage is 220/240 volts.

With respect to GMT, Northern Cyprus is always two hours ahead.

Beaches in North Cyprus

Beaches are a principal attraction in North Cyprus, and vary from the busy hotel beaches, which offer many facilities, to the secluded stretches of sand, where the visitors may have all entire beaches to themselves. For those who love beaches and soaking up the sun when on holidays, North Cyprus Kyrenia definitely will not disappoint.

Kyrenia is home to some fabulous unspoilt North Cyprus beaches including Acapulco Beach, Escape Beach, and Alagadi Beach.
